Dunseith Day School prioritizes student well-being, providing care for illnesses and injuries, ensuring compliance with immunization requirements, and preventing the spread of contagious conditions.

Illness in School

Students are sent to the school nurse When they become ill during the school day. If a student cannot continue the school day, the school will contact parents or guardians for pickup. Dunseith Day School requires parents to:

  • Provide the name of an alternative drop-off location if unavailable.
  • Submit emergency contact information and alternative care providers during enrollment.

Communicable Illnesses

Dunseith Day School observes the following guidelines to protect student health:

  • Childhood Diseases (e.g., chickenpox, mumps, measles): Students must stay home until a doctor’s statement verifies, they may return to school.
  • Contagious Ailments (e.g., scabies): Students diagnosed with contagious conditions must stay home until treatment is complete and they are no longer contagious.

Immunizations

To maintain a safe and healthy school environment, all students must provide up-to-date documentation of immunizations as part of enrollment.

School Accidents

In a school accident, the school nurse will administer first aid. Parents or guardians will be notified immediately if an accident occurs. Dunseith Day School requires parents to:

  • Complete a medical release form during enrollment, authorizing medical treatment in an emergency.
  • Be informed that the school social worker may transport students to a medical facility if necessary.

The supervising staff member will complete an incident report to document the accident.
