Guidance and Counseling Program
Dunseith Day School provides a comprehensive guidance and counseling program to support kindergarten through eighth-grade students. This developmental and preventive program fosters students' academic, social and personal growth.
Program Objectives
The guidance and counseling program at Dunseith Day School works to achieve the following objectives:
- Ensure that guidance is available to all students, not only those experiencing challenges.
- Support students in developing self-knowledge and understanding through individual guidance and classroom counseling.
- Establish a collaborative approach involving students, parents/guardians, teachers, counselors, pupil personnel specialists, administrators and community resources.
- Maximize students' potential by providing resources and guidance suited to their needs.
- Help students adapt effectively to their environment.
- Improve students’ problem-solving and decision-making skills through structured guidance activities.
Junior High Focus
Recognizing the unique needs of junior high students, the guidance and counseling program offers tailored support, including:
- Assisting students in navigating peer relationships, especially when these may conflict with family or school expectations.
- Providing a supportive environment to help students manage any confusion or anxiety related to identity.
