At Dunseith Day School, student life is rooted in belonging, culture, and community. We recognize that every student brings unique strengths and experiences. We aim to create a school environment where every student feels safe, supported, and empowered.

A Warm and Supportive Environment

Students are welcomed daily by caring staff who believe in their potential and are committed to their success. Relationships are central to our approach. We listen, encourage, and support our students through both challenges and achievements. When students know they are valued, they thrive.

Celebrating Success and Growth

Throughout the school year, students have many opportunities to grow, connect, and celebrate their achievements. Incentive programs recognize students for attendance, academic progress, positive behavior, and leadership. Rewards may include books, learning supplies, treats, and more.

Building a Love of Reading

Through our Accelerated Reader program, we promote a strong reading culture. Students in grades 2– 8 work toward individualized reading goals and earn points to spend at the AR store or participate in special reward trips. For younger students, reading is nurtured through classroom library time and teacher support.

Activities Beyond the Classroom

Students also grow through enriching experiences outside the classroom. These include:

  • Basketball jamborees
  • STEM stations
  • Creative art projects
  • Interactive playtime

These activities help students explore interests, build friendships, and feel proud of what they accomplish.

Honoring Culture and Community

Culture is a meaningful part of student life at Dunseith Day School. Through the Title VII program and Cultural Club, students engage in traditional teachings and classroom-based discovery that reflect and honor the rich culture of the Turtle Mountains. These experiences foster a deeper sense of identity and respect for community heritage.

Strong Family Connections

Family engagement is essential to student success. We host regular family-centered events, such as:

  • STEM Night
  • Read Across America Week
  • Kindergarten cookie decorating
  • Halloween Fun Night
  • Back-to-School Party

These gatherings strengthen home–school connections and allow students to share their learning in joyful, memorable ways.

A Joyful and Meaningful Experience

At Dunseith Day School, student life is joyful, purposeful, and community-driven. We are proud of our students and honored to walk alongside them as they learn.
